Hi there!
Zapier’s mission is to make automation work for everyone. At the core of the product is our integration ecosystem: with over 7,000+ connected apps, Zapier is the industry leader in integration availability. That means integration quality - the reliability, performance, and continued modernization of those 7,000+ connected apps - is critical to providing a best-in-class customer experience.
We’re looking for a Lead Product Manager who will be responsible for accelerating the quality of that ecosystem. You’ll envision, seed, and scale the capabilities that allow us to put new integration functionality in users’ hands faster. You’ll drive a multi-year strategy that will guide how we create, manage, and improve our marketplace of connected apps. And, you’ll serve as an important contributor to our broader cross-functional ecosystem strategy and program approach. While you’ll join an existing team, you’ll lead a new chapter of its impact. Success looks like delivering the best integration ecosystem on the internet, to the most users, for the lowest ongoing cost.
To help share a bit more about life at Zapier, here are a few resources in addition to the job description that can give you an inside look at what life is like at Zapier:
You’ll thrive in this role if:
You’re experienced with integrations and APIs. You have multiple years of experience as a Senior PM or above. You’re well-versed in APIs, software integrations, and developer platforms or platform products. You’re comfortable with technical topics and you understand the SaaS business model. If you’re a product-minded engineer at or above the equivalent of “Lead” seniority, you could also thrive in this role.
You understand a Platform’s multiple customers. You know that a Platform PM really builds for three different audiences: the PMs who need features from your platform, the developers who build on top of your service, and the end-users who ultimately consume those services. You can navigate the dependencies between them, who to optimize for, and how to concisely communicate your product’s value to them.
You’re self-directed and collaborative. You can capably lead problem identification, prioritization, and roadmap planning. You’re transparent with your stakeholders and involve them at the right level throughout the product development lifecycle. When you have dependencies on other teams, you work proactively, constructively, and with shared goals in mind. When conditions change, you adapt to keep delivering.
You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity. Zapier is constantly inventing ways to expand the capabilities of our products - as such, you might be the first to encounter new problem types. Where others get stalled in uncertainty, you see a structured and logical path forward. You’re capable of prioritization and decision-making that lead to progress. No problem is too big for you, no task is too small.
You grasp the big picture. As a Platform PM, you’re in charge of creating functionality that works for multiple product lines. You pursue & maintain an understanding of the operative strategic vision well enough to make the right short and long-term calls.
You’re bold, pragmatic, and obsessed with results. You set big goals, and you back them up with diligence on why they matter and how we’ll achieve them. You have a consistent track record of delivering outcomes (not just outputs) that create business value.
Things You’ll Do:
Set strategy and concise roadmap for how we’ll improve our integration ecosystem on a long-term time horizon.
Work backward from that strategy to identify and deliver the products/programs that will allow us to achieve it. Sometimes this will mean influencing & creating buy-in beyond your own team; sometimes it will mean saying no to incremental gains in favor of long-term returns.
Be the internal expert on your customers and their needs, so you can reflect those needs in your prioritization decisions & serve as an effective champion for your team.
Stay current on emerging technologies, industry insights, and other pathways that can help Zapier deliver best-in-class integrations to users.
Define leading & trailing success metrics for your product area, and evolve your strategy & roadmap accordingly, to stay accountable for outcomes.
Partner with Engineering, Design, Research, Data, and other Product Managers to form clear solutions to problems, align goals, and deliver on those initiatives.
Collaborate with Go-To-Market partners, including Support and Marketing, to ensure that any user-facing enhancements are highly visible to customers.
Role-model Zapier’s values as an example for junior PMs to follow.
How to Apply
At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of education or companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional.
After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!
