Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
What will the role be doing?
Deliver critical front-end services and features that provide essential functionality for all Canva users to have the best on-brand experience. Collaborate with other FE engineers to drive best practices within the team and improve the user experience for Brand in Canva.

Responsibilities
- Work with product designers and founders to build improved functionality into Canva’s design editor and creative elements such as fonts, text, shapes, images, and colours, as well as adding new elements.
- Build efficient and reusable front-end abstractions and systems.
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks.
- Participate in design and code reviews.
- Help to identify and communicate standard practices and methodologies for front-end engineering.
- Collaborating with the team and other engineers outside the team to find issues in the whole product and communicate clear action items.
- Empowering other engineers is one of our team’s core values.
Key Skills or Experience
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript and web technologies (HTML/CSS)
- Experience with React or similar frontend framework
- Experience with TypeScript
- Experience with MobX (or other state management libraries)
- Experience collaborating with designers
- Provide technical expertise to other teams
- Participate in design and code reviews
- Computer science fundamentals
