Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora,你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Design, develop and deploy internal solutions and hands-on software development – working closely with leads, engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver features and services to our internal customers
- Primarily working on web frontend with Typescript, but may need to work with other languages and environments
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and optimally advocate for engineering needs to technical and non-technical team members within the group
- Model initiatives and ownership in achieving goals, improving processes and solutions
- Find opportunities for cross-team collaboration to work on new insights and improvements that help achieve our goals
- Help engineers evolve by setting up high standards and leading by example
- Play a crucial role in making technical decisions
You're probably a match if
- Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality commercial software
- Extensive experience in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Extensive experience with TypeScript (or other typed languages), React or any other high-level framework.
- Experience performing technical reviews
- Ability to write performant, reusable code for UI components, including appropriate testing
- Working collaboratively with team members and communicating effectively
- Good writing and verbal communication skills
Nice to have:
- Experience working with interface design tooling
- Understanding the concept of feature flag frameworks and A/B testing
- Experience in full-stack development
About the Team
The Feature Control team is responsible for the internal feature flags and rollout platform utilised by thousands of Canvanauts. Our mission is to “establish and automate the golden path for launching product changes at Canva”. We accomplish this through a custom in-house platform that's built for Canva’s needs, empowering all engineers and product managers to make informed and thoroughly tested decisions to safely roll out features to millions of Canva users.
About the Role
We're seeking lead frontend engineers who are eager to dive into the complex realm of flags, experiments and rollouts. As part of this team, you'll collaborate closely with Data Scientists and Engineers across the company on projects that impact Canva as a whole. Experiments and rollouts lie at the heart of our growth, and by working on our internal service, you'll directly influence nearly every service within the company. Even though this work is not exposed to external customers directly, it is crucial to Canva's collective success, driving our vision and strategy forward.
