About the Group
Presentations & Whiteboards is a key group in Design Experience, responsible for those two doctypes. Working alongside the other Visual Worksuite doctypes. Presentations & Whiteboards has had an extraordinary year of growth with most of our key metrics hitting all time highs. Presentations now contributes 31.6% to Canva MAU, with 55 million monthly active users. Whiteboards is sitting at 8.8 million MAU with an all time high retention rate. The on-going mission is to become the #1 platform in the world for storytelling and collaboration.
While we have shipped world class products, there is still much to be done. We have a packed upcoming road map of features that will take both Presentations & Whiteboards to new heights. Expect a strong focus on both AI/ML integration, interactivity, drawing, and other power user features.
About the Team
The Create Team is responsible for owning the critical user journeys around creating and editing presentations & whiteboard designs. They work closely with counterparts in the Editing Group, Video sub-group, and internally with our Ideate team on Whiteboards projects.
What technical skills make a good Presentations & Whiteboards Engineer?
- Passion for great UX, storytelling and collaboration.
- Cross-browser knowledge as we are often driving changes that may have implications across many different browsers, devices, and modalities.
- Problem-solving and algorithm skills.
- Having worked as part of a design system.
- Having worked to build and ship impactful product and/or changes.
- Consideration for performance, especially as it relates to a great product experience.
- Our frontend stack consists of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, TypeScript, MobX, etc.. Experience in some of these would be valuable but is not required.
- Firmly grounding in computer science and engineering fundamentals including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
