The team:
The Legal team is part of the Strategic Finance department at Jobber. We work hand in hand with functional leaders across the business in Marketing, Sales and Product Development supporting risk management and providing legal advice on a variety of matters to support and guide the growing business. We also work closely with Jobber’s C-Suite.
The role:
Reporting to the Director, Legal, the Associate Legal Counsel will be assisting the Legal Counsel in multiple areas of Jobber’s operations and strategies. The successful candidate will provide legal advice on a range of relevant matters as they arise in the business, bringing a strong attention to detail and communication skills into every daily interaction. This role will work closely with all areas of Jobber and must be able to collaborate and operate efficiently with multiple departments. You will bring flexibility to adapt to a variety of situations including but not limited to privacy, security and confidentiality, along with drafting and negotiating various commercial agreements to assist in providing practical, business-oriented legal advice and solutions on a variety of matters.
We’re looking for someone who is able to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently, as you will be working directly with the Jobber’s Corporate Counsel, the sales and marketing teams, and management.
The Associate Legal Counsel will:
- Provide timely, practical legal advice on corporate/commercial, privacy, security, marketing and advertising and other matters as they arise;
- Draft, review, advise on, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements;
- Support the negotiation and documentation of commercial transactions and industry partnerships;
- Leverage technology and embrace innovation to improve the day to day operation of the legal function; and
- Serve as an in-house generalist attending to a wide variety of legal, regulatory compliance, governance and quasi-legal matters as needed.

Professional experience required:
- LLB or JD from an accredited law school
- Qualified to practice law in Ontario, Alberta or another Canadian province
- A minimum of 1 year of post-call experience in house or practicing in firm with strong preference given to corporate/commercial experience
- A practical, proactive and service-oriented approach
- Excellent organization, communication skills and attention to detail
