About the role
Reporting to the Manager, Finance, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely reporting to our regulators and parent company.
\n- Own the monthly close process and support financial & regulatory reporting.
- Act as subject matter expert on complex accounting issues and provide solutions as appropriate.
- Be the go-to person on financial reporting and presenting in monthly close meetings.
- Be responsible for complex analysis and have the ability to articulate the financial & regulatory implications.
- Lead in enhancing financial reporting processes and policies, systems, internal control environments, and recommend process changes and improvements.
- Contribute to new initiatives and new product launches.
- Manage relationships with various internal and external stakeholders and be the first touchpoint for issues and resolutions.
- Has 3-5 years of full cycle accounting experience coupled with a college diploma or university degree in Business or Accounting.
- Has a CPA designation or equivalent experience.
- Brings advanced knowledge of accounting principles.
- Has experience with applications and ERP systems, including Oracle, NetSuite, Excel, Word, Preset, and Google Suite.
- Can be an advisor with sound judgement and has the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
- Is curious with a desire to dive into things and, if something seems off, figure out what’s going on.
- Is courageous in embracing new ways of doing things, including automating functions, finding scalable solutions, and driving continuous improvement.
- Is a strong problem-solver with attention to detail.
- Possesses excellent communication skills and is comfortable connecting with people at all levels of the organization.
- Has the ability to learn quickly, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Brings work experience in an CIRO member firm (this is considered an asset).
- Has completed the Canadian Securities Course (this is considered an asset).
