Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a Civil Engineering background, PMP certification, and a robust history in managing large-scale construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and project management skills to oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of large-scale construction projects. This role will involve managing project teams, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, maintaining budgets, and meeting timelines, while liaising with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, plan, and execute projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Oversee the coordination and management of project teams, including engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients, ensuring efficient workflow and clear communication.
- Ensure all civil works are in compliance with relevant codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and reports to monitor project progress and ensure alignment with client expectations.
- Manage and mitigate project risks, resolving issues as they arise, while keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
- Provide technical guidance on civil engineering aspects, such as site preparation, grading, drainage, road construction, utilities installation, and infrastructure development.
- Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Conduct regular virtual site inspections to ensure the quality and safety of construction activities.
- Lead project meetings, including progress updates, cost control discussions, and schedule reviews.
- Develop and implement project management plans, including scope, resources, budgets, and risk assessments.
- Foster relationships with clients, vendors, local authorities, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution.
- Oversee contract negotiations and change orders with clients and subcontractors.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior project managers and team members.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Civil Engineer license (PE or equivalent) required.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) is a plus.
- Minimum of 20-25 years of experience in project management for civil works projects, with at least 5-10 years in a senior management role.
- Extensive experience in civil engineering design and construction, including infrastructure, roads, utilities, grading, drainage, and earthworks.
- Proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar projects with successful on-time and within-budget delivery.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, contract management, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Primavera) and engineering software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of California construction codes, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Skills:
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience with both public and private-sector projects.
- Experience with cost estimation, budgeting, and financial forecasting for large projects.
