Description
The Project Manager is a management position responsible for overseeing projects and personnel. The Project Manager will perform activities including scheduling and monitoring of engineering design activities, coordinating with the client, selling new work, creating proposals and change orders, and being the main point of contact for project responsibilities. The position involves managing internal personnel and speaking technically into projects to make informed decisions on schedule, budget, and scope. The position may also include engineering activities such as calculations, modeling, and design pertaining to the design of transmission lines, distribution lines, structures, and associated power delivery systems.
Key Responsibilities
A continual understanding of project hours, estimated time to complete tasks, and a knowledge of budgeted time allotments for work performed. The Project Manager will track deliverables, negotiate change order funds, and track all billable hours on project. The Project Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Scheduling
- Monitoring progress of project
- Communication and coordination with client
- Selling new work and other business development tasks like client outreach
- Drafting proposals for new work
- Creating change orders and tracking project budgets
- Resource allocation on project
- Main point of contact for all engineers, drafters, and designers on project
- Approving and editing timesheets for all direct reports
- Directing internal and external meetings pertaining to the project scope/schedule
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer’s (PE) license
- 4 – 10 years of transmission or distribution line industry experience
- 4-5 years of project management experience or lead engineer on project experience
- Experience working for major Investor Owned Utilities in the United States
