Role Overview:
The Director of E-commerce is a senior role and a leadership team member responsible for identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities and commercials in both new and existing markets. This role requires a strategic leader who can manage the business development and commercial department, navigate the complexities of import and export, and foster strong partnerships to enhance our online sales presence globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in international markets, including overcoming challenges related to the importation and exportation of goods.
- Forge and maintain partnerships that enhance our online selling capabilities across various platforms.
- Develop the business development departmental strategy in line with the company targets and develop clear, concise reporting on performance.
- Lead and coach the business development team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders to craft and execute the business development strategy, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of the global marketplace landscape, particularly platforms like Amazon.
- At least 5 years of experience in a head of department role, with proven success in business development or the commercial area
- Experience with importing and exporting goods, and navigating the related regulations and logistics.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams remotely.
- Ability to make informed, data-driven decisions.
- A strategic thinker who can provide a clear vision of developing a best-in-class approach to growing profitable revenues.
- Extensive experience in e-commerce and familiarity with global marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, and others.
- Proven ability to manage remote teams in a fully remote environment.
- Strong project management skills and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Experience Level
This is a department lead role suitable for a candidate with extensive experience in business development + commercial, particularly within e-commerce and global markets, looking to influence and drive growth at a strategic level.
