The SEO Manager is a data-driven, hands-on leader tasked with advancing SEO initiatives across The Zebra’s organization. The role involves leading the SEO content team and providing recommendations for content initiatives, backed by detailed analysis and insights. You will work closely with Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams to ensure the most current SEO best practices are incorporated into new and ongoing projects.
Location:
While we are open to remote work across the contingent US, we are still establishing our company to support work in all states! We’ve recently shifted from an in-office organization to a hybrid model and love the flexibility it allows our employees. We are set up to support employees who want to be fully remote, in-office only, or a mix of the two. Please note—we will not be supporting work based out of the following states: CA, MA, NY, and NJ.
What You'll Do:
Lead the SEO content team to create and optimize data-driven SEO landing pages, ensuring content is informative, user-friendly, and optimized for organic search.
Manage the editorial calendar and ensure content writers meet deadlines and achieve goals.
Conduct comprehensive content and research analyses to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Conduct SEO audits informed by extensive knowledge of the entire marketing funnel, leveraging experience in optimizing each stage to increase organic traffic and drive conversions. Analyze individual pages and user paths to identify growth opportunities.
Ensure compliance with Google Quality Rater guidelines, page experience best practices, and high user experience standards by collaborating with content writers, designers, product managers, and engineers.
Support the Director of SEO in developing compelling business cases for the SEO roadmap and strategic priorities.
What We're Looking For:
As we evaluate candidates across all roles, we look for folks with a strong sense of ownership, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a dedication to continuous improvement.
6+ years of SEO experience with a demonstrated ability to execute and optimize for organic growth in complex environments.
Expertise in technical SEO, conversion rate optimization (CRO) testing, and data analysis, with a focus on results-driven strategies.
Proven success in cross-functional collaboration and hands-on project management.
Proficiency in SEO tools and analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and relevant SEO testing tools.
You are proficient with Excel, Looker (or similar BI tools).
SQL is not required but a plus.
Strong organizational and mentorship abilities, with a focus on practical execution and operational improvements.
